Chinese Medicine For Hair Loss

Chinese medicine consists of the following healing techniques: herbology, acupuncture, and acupressure. These modes of healing can be rooted back in the ancient Chinese system of treating diseases. Right now, a lot of medical practitioners are claiming that these healing techniques have some legitimate scientific basis to it. Incidentally, hair loss is just one minor problem that Chinese medicine can easily address.

There are different concoctions, herbs, and procedures to revert hair loss in a person. The traditional Chinese way of healing comprises the use of pressure points, chi, and energy flow into the body. One good medicine for hair loss is Goto Kola.

A very popular herb known to curb hair loss in men and also control male pattern baldness. Also known to help people with alopecea, this herb is available in its natural form and as a pill. It is also used for blood purification and increase memory power of a person, but must be taken after Doctor's consultation only.

Goto Kola is very effective for age-related hair loss and male pattern baldness. It is believed that Goto Kola is the well-kept secrets of Chinese centenarians who have gone past their 100th birthday still enjoy the full lock of their hair.

But more than treating hair loss, Goto Kola is also effective for memory problems, anxiety, insomnia, edema, and high blood pressure. It can also be used to enhance a person's cognitive processes, heal wounds, and promote blood circulation.

Other than Goto Kola, ginseng is also a good treatment for hair loss.

Who hasn't heard of this Chinese medicine, right? Well, Ginseng has been administered for decades now, to cure various ailments, one of which is hair loss. The Siberian Ginseng has strong medicinal powers that helps rejuvenate the scalp and increase blood flow.

This herb must be the most popular one yet this decade. Both Chinese medicine and the Indian Ayurvedic medicine had attested to its effectiveness. It addresses hair loss by directly inhibiting the production of 5 alpha reductase, which is the element that is believed to cause the problem. Ginseng can also inhibit cortisol and work as an adaptogen.

Foti, also referred to as Shien Mien in Chinese medicine, is also a good herbal treatment for hair loss.

Also known as He Shou Wu, this herb is commonly consumed as tea or as medication to help increase hair growth and reduce hair loss.

In fact, it has been used as a hair-growing agent in the past few years already. However, scientific evidences to prove its effectiveness are yet to surface. But with the testimonials of the people who are using it, this herb is definitely worth a try.

But more than the use of Chinese medicine, it has been recently discovered that male pattern baldness can actually be triggered by the food that a person eats. A western diet consisting of dairy products, meat, and fast food items are conducive to hair loss, according to an epidemiological study conducted in Japan eight years ago.

The study also concluded that a macrobiotic diet has a positive effect to hair growth. Such diet consists of grains, fish, and vegetables, including foods that are rich in the 3 fatty acids and 6 fatty acids.

Stress And Hair Loss

Men and women experience baldness or thinning hair in very different ways. Men tend to lose hair in certain areas of the scalp and in many instances men will have "male pattern balding" on top of the head, while hair still grows on the sides and back of the head. Women tend to lose hair more evenly across the scalp causing a thinning appearance.

Male pattern baldness is easiest to explain, it's hereditary and a natural part of aging. If your father or grandfather is bald, then there's probably not much you can do to prevent baldness. Some women experience hair loss after childbirth and sometimes when using some birth control pills. Most people will loose their hair with chemotherapy treatments. Causes of baldness or hair loss can include diet, drug abuse, hormonal imbalances (usually in women), illness, poor hygiene practices, and stress.

Stress can also be a factor that's not often connected with hair loss. Stress can contribute to hair loss. It's rarely the major cause but it ranks near the top of the few known causes. Stress related hair loss usually occurs after a stressful period is over and the original stress may not be easy to connect to a hair loss occurrence. If you're experience sudden hair loss, think back and consider if an event may have happened that stressed you enough to have an affect on your hair. A wise course of action is to consult with your doctor about any unusual medical condition.

Stress related baldness even has a scientific name, (Telogen Effluvium). This can cause large numbers of hair follicles to enter a stage of rest at the same time. Usually the hair follicles will be ejected out of the follicle by the growth of a new hair. This results in a condition of hair shedding that usually corrects itself, but if the stress is ongoing, this type of hair loss can become chronic and may lead to permanent balding.

There are many treatments offered for baldness and thinning hair conditions but, there is very little information on preventing or reversing hair loss caused by stress. If you're experiencing baldness or thinning hair and it seems to be abnormal, it's a good idea to see your doctor to determine the cause. If it is stress related, one of the first things to do is reduce the stress. If you continue to deal with your stress related hair loss the same way you've always been doing, you're going to get the same results.

Here are few things you can do to reduce your level of stress:

1. Eat good meals. A diet rich in proteins, vitamins and minerals is necessary to reduce stress. Eat balanced meals with whole grain breads, dairy and poultry products as well as fish and meat. Increase your fiber intake with leafy green vegetables and fruits in your diet. Avoid added sugars and excessive caffeine.

2. Do something to replace the stress. Physical exercise such as weight training, running or power walking on a regular basis will reduce the level of adrenaline in your body caused by the stress and relax your mind. Your body and mind will be more relaxed, you'll sleep better and your health will improve as a result of physical exercise. Once, when I had a particularly stressful job, I reduced the stress by getting a part-time job sweeping the floor and emptying the trash in a department store. This had the effect of reducing my stress level, gave me a light physical workout and put some extra money in my pocket.

2. Find ways to relax. There are no special techniques needed to relax, but you do need a quiet place where you can keep your body straight, breath deeply and slowly and focus you thoughts on less stressful activities. Exercises such as those taught in a yoga class will help focus your mind and reduce stress levels.

3. Get enough sleep. Adequate and restful sleep is very important in easing stress.

4. Don't give up...Keep at it and you'll notice a welcome change in your lifestyle after you start reducing your stress level. Doing the three things listed above will help you stay in good shape and reduce your stress. If your hair loss is caused by stress, this will solve your sudden hair loss problems.

Oily Hair Remedies

Oily hair affects a lot of people, and there are a number of hair care products on the market for this condition. Unfortunately, many of these shampoos tend to treat this condition with ingredients that have a high detergent content. This puts the sebacious glands into overdrive, and makes the problem even worse.

There are several factors that could be causing the sebacious glands to create excessive oil, including hormones, genetics, puberty, and menopause. What I suggest is that you take a two prong approach to the problem. Start on the inside, by taking a daily Apple Cider tablet, available at health food stores. Try eating a diet that contains more acidic fruits. This will help as well. While creating an internal balance, you need to treat the external problem using a shampoo and creme rinse that is free of detergents and Sodium Lauryl Sulphates.

Chalet's Shampoo and creme rinse all have a Natural Apple Cider in them, along with a Rosemary tea. Both of these ingredients are excellent for your dilema. They also have Citric acid, which is a natural astringent. All of Chalet's products are made from all vegetable or citric derived ingredients, which makes them very concentrated and pure. I assure you they have no detergents, SLS products, or chemicals of any kind.

Once you get on a schedule, I am sure that you will be very suprised at the body, bounce, shine, and health of you hair.

Start with a natural, gentle shampoo like the one at Chalet. Do not scrub your scalp. Vigorous scrubbing will activate the sebacious glands. Massage it gently until it reaches a rich lather, and leave it on the scalp for 5 minutes. Since there are no detergents in Chalet products, there is no need to worry about how long the shampoo is contacting the scalp. Rinse well after 5 minutes. Apply a very Small amount of Chalet Creme Rinse, and very gently pull through the ends of your hair. Keep it away from the scalp, and rinse well. Blot excess water from the hair when drying, always keeping in mind that any vigorous action on the scalp will send a signal to the sebacious glands to work. This goes for combing and brushing as well. Stay away from blowdryers completely, as well as any styling products that contain alcohol.

Shampoo every second day to start, moving up to every third day after the first two weeks. You really shouldn't have to wash your hair more than twice a week to maintain clean, healthy hair. If your scalp feels oily while you are adapting to this routine, dab some Witch Hazel to the roots with a cotton pad. I Hope this information helps. If the current approach to your excess oil problem isn't helping, give this program a try. There are many articles on my website concerning skin care and hair care. I hope you enjoy them!

Hairstyles That Lift and Camoulflage for Women Over 50

There are many hairstyle choices for women over 50 and you are only limited by a hairstyle that fits your face, color, personality, hair texture and lifestyle. With the right hairstyle, you can appear as dazzling as ever and look miraculously younger.

Here are four common problems facing women over 50 and hairstyle ideas to help you look your best.

Fine and Thinning Hair

Dry and limp hair is likely the most common problem for women 50 and above. A short hairstyle is most often considered better for women with thinning hair, as a short hairstyle tends to divert attention from the hair to the face. Fine and thin hair looks better when cut in a short bob with side swept bangs of interest. This type of hairstyle is also excellent for camouflaging a wrinkled or high forehead. And if your pressed for time a short bob only needs some gentle blow-drying after shampooing.

Expression Lines and Dropping Jaw Line

Most women want to style their hair close to their face in an attempt to hide a softening jaw line or frown lines around the eyes. However styling the hair slightly shorter around the face in layers than in back, can actually soften your facial features. Styling the layers up and away from her your face with a round brush will also add instant lift to a drooping jaw line.

Aging Neck Line

Losing that firm skin around the neckline can be frustrating not to mention it ads years to your appearance. However you can style your hair in a way to divert attention from your neckline and accentuate your best features like your sparkling eyes or high cheek bones. By keeping your hair length around the ears and in back you can soften your neck and shoulder areas. This type of style also works to shorten a long neckline as well.

Pale Skin Tone and Discoloration

Its well known that skin tone influences your hairstyle and color choice. Women over 50 tend to chop their hair and then color it dark so that the gray hair is camouflaged. You can simply avoid this by highlighting your hair, as it will deceptively cover the age.

In general women over 50 should preferably use light hair colors unless you have a pale complexion. For a pale complexion opt for brunette shades instead, as this makes you appear more youthful.

Those with olive or dark complexions are the luckiest, as they have a variety of hair colors to choose from. They look good in most colors including brown, burgundy and blond. A proper hair color should highlight your skin tone bring it alive and glowing. On the other hand, if you have made the wrong choice you will probably look tired and washed out.

Aging is inescapable; however, it does not limit your sense of beauty and your instinct to earn recognition. You can look beautiful at all ages. With this being the spirit, you can always find a perfect hairstyle for you to look your best. To help you decide on the best hairstyle, you can also use some software programs to save yourself some unnecessary drama and try out different hairstyles on a current photo of yourself.
